Update: Services and Meetings are Being Moved to Online Only
We have been watching the latest information, recommendation, and guidelines concerning Covid-19. As a result of the governor’s declaration limiting groups to 50 or less and the latest CDC recommendations that groups be limited to less than 10, the board has decided that for now, we will NOT hold meetings or services on site. We are working to make plans to provide online meetings and services through Facebook Live on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ogfcog). We can also burn DVDs for those who do not have access to Facebook. If you need a DVD, please contact the church office. This has not been an easy decision because we understand the value of gathering together as a church in worship.
The current recommendations for social isolation are going to be especially hard on some. We encourage you to contact one another. Don’t just text but make phone calls and video calls as you connect with one another. This social interaction is going to be very important as we face the days ahead.
Currently, we are planning a regular Facebook live event for all our families on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. We are calling it “What’s in the Bag Wednesday” and hope to make it interactive through the comments feed. We encourage you to join us for this live event as we meet together in this new format.
Sundays at 10:30 a.m., we are planning to stream both a time of worship as well as the message. This means that we will still need musicians as well as our worship team volunteers who are able, to come lead worship at the church on Sunday mornings. We are still working out the details on how that will work. We are looking at the possibility of online giving, but for now, any offerings can be mailed to or dropped off at the church office.
The church office will remain open and you can always reach us by phone. We will try to keep you updated concerning any changes on our website (www.ogfcog.com), our Facebook page, through email, and our call/text line.
We encourage you to use this time to have meaningful discussions and devotions with your family. If you haven’t signed up for the RIGHT NOW MEDIA streaming service, now is a great time. It is free to all of our church members and has bible study videos for all ages as well as programming for children. If you want to sign up, please call us at the office.
Make sure to encourage one another (especially your children), listen to concerns, watch for and reach out to people who are having an especially difficult time, and pray. Pray for your family, those who are sick, our local, state, and national leaders, that this will pass quickly, and that even through all of this, we will see a move of God in this nation and our world. In this time, we encourage you to put your trust in the Lord, He is still on the throne, and we know that he will see us through even this.
In Christ,
Bro. Jonathan
